We welcome guests with open arms to Matyóföld, the home of matyodesign, where we’d like to share the mission of our social enterprise and the unique secrets of our sustainable fashion brand. Visitors are greeted by women dressed in traditional Matyó folk costumes with freshly baked, fragrant pogácsa and homemade pálinka, so that they can experience the hospitality of village life from the very first moment.
During the program, guests can explore several different activity stations in a beautifully renovated farmhouse that is over 100 years old, where they will get a brief glimpse into the world of Matyó traditions. At one station, they can sit down with Matyó women from Tard to try their hand at embroidery: here, anyone can try creating traditional motifs for a few stitches, while the women kindly explain the origin and meaning of the patterns.
At another stop, visitors will have the opportunity to try on traditional Matyó folk costumes. For a short time, they can slip into these beautiful, colorful, richly decorated garments and experience what it feels like to wear the festive attire of Matyó culture. The spectacular attire also makes for a great photo opportunity, so you can create a lasting memory of your visit.
At the culinary experience station, visitors can get a glimpse into the simple yet incredibly charming process of making snail-shaped pasta. Guests can learn how to use the snail-shaped pasta maker and, with just a few simple steps, try their hand at shaping the pasta themselves, just as local women have done for generations.
At the end of the visit, guests will have the opportunity to try on matyodesign’s modern, sustainable products. Guests can experience how traditional Matyó heritage meets the clean lines of contemporary fashion. Every item is available for purchase on-site at a 10% discount, so participants can take home a valuable, handmade souvenir from Matyó Country.
