Hike

Arrive in Tard, the heart of Matyó culture and home of Matyodesign. Enjoy the tranquility and fresh country air as women dressed in traditional Matyó folk costumes welcome you with freshly baked pogácsa and pálinka. At the start of the program, we’ll explain our goals and our commitment to social responsibility, and then you can choose from a variety of activities to make the most of your day.

You can meet the Matyó embroidery artists and learn about the art of embroidery, and create your very first Matyó rose using colors of your choice. You can bake Tardi pastries together with the local women, tearing out dough using tools that are up to 100 years old. We’ll also teach you a traditional Tardi folk song so that by the end of the day, you too can sing along with our embroiderers.

During the day, we’ll prepare a fresh two-course lunch. You can take a guided tour of Hungary’s oldest folk museum, and if you’re brave enough, you can even try on traditional folk costumes. To conclude the program, you can also visit the church in Tard, where Matyó frescoes and a 110-year-old organ await you.
